From hidden Minton hallways to city centre marble
Pull back the carpet in a Victorian terrace in Headingley or Chapel Allerton and there is often an original Minton or quarry tile hallway underneath, laid when the house was built and hidden for decades. Out in Roundhay, Moortown and Alwoodley the stone tends to be newer, limestone and travertine kitchens from renovations, while plenty of older Leeds homes still have Yorkshire stone flags in cellars, kitchens and hearths. Almost none of it needs replacing. It needs a proper machine clean, honest advice and the right sealer.
The city centre is a different sort of work. Marble and terrazzo in office receptions around Park Row and Wellington Street, stone floors in the bars off Call Lane, hotel lobbies near the station, arcades and shop floors taking thousands of pairs of feet a week. Those floors need heat-assisted deep cleaning with slurry recovery, a sealer matched to the traffic, and a crew willing to work overnight or at the weekend so trading is never interrupted. We do all three.
DynoClean has been cleaning and restoring floors across Yorkshire since 1999, working out of Knaresborough, about half an hour from north Leeds down the A61. Customers keep mentioning Steve and Ed by name in our Google reviews, and every one of those reviews is five star. Every job starts with a visit and a test patch so you can see the result before committing, and ends with before and after photos and a written aftercare plan.
Stone floor cleaning services in Leeds
Every floor gets a test patch first, so you see the exact finish before we commit to the whole area.
Victorian and Minton tiles
The geometric hallways in Headingley and Chapel Allerton terraces are usually structurally sound under decades of grime and old sealer. We deep clean with grout-safe agitation, replace failed grout in matched widths and colours, then finish with a breathable impregnating sealer that keeps the matt period look.
Yorkshire stone and flagstones
Sandstone flags in older Leeds homes soak up soil because the stone is porous. Heat-assisted detergents and rotary scrubbing lift years of embedded dirt, we recover the slurry rather than spreading it, then apply an impregnator, or a colour-enhancing sealer if you want the depth back.
Limestone
A popular kitchen floor in Roundhay and Alwoodley, and the one we see etched most often, because lemon juice, wine and supermarket sprays all mark calcareous stone. We hone out etching and light scratches with diamond pads, re-polish to your chosen sheen and seal against future spills.
Marble
Marble receptions and lift lobbies in Leeds office buildings go dull under foot traffic, and trolley scuffs show quickly. Progressive diamond polishing brings the reflection back to matt, satin or high gloss, and colour-matched resin fills sort chips around desks and thresholds before we finish.
Terrazzo
Leeds has terrazzo everywhere, from shop entrances and arcade thresholds to communal stairwells in converted mills. We repair damage with tinted epoxy and matching stone aggregate for a near-invisible blend, then hone and polish the whole floor so repairs and original surface read as one.
Slate and quarry tiles
Slate hearths, kitchen floors and quarry tile hallways turn patchy when old wax or paint sits on the surface. We deal with previous coatings, deep clean, then seal for either a natural finish or a dressed sheen. Loose tiles and failed joints are sorted before any sealing starts.
Floor grinding & seamless floors
We diamond-grind stone, terrazzo and concrete flat, then restore or lay seamless resin and polished finishes. It is the fix for lippage, trip edges and tired screed in Leeds kitchens, extensions and units, leaving one continuous, easy-clean surface.
Full re-grouts
Cracked, stained or failed grout is raked out and renewed across the whole floor, not patched over. We colour-match and reseal the new joints, which on a tiled Leeds hallway or wet room lifts the look of the whole floor.

How your floor goes from dull to done
First visit and test patch
We visit, identify the stone with quick acid and porosity tests, check for previous coatings and clean a test patch so you see the achievable result before committing to anything. You get a written quote with no hidden fees and a realistic timeline.
Protection and paperwork
RAMS and COSHH documentation is prepared for every job, commercial or domestic. We mask and protect skirtings, kitchen units and adjacent floors, and agree access, parking and working hours before any machine comes off the van.
Deep clean and extraction
Heat-assisted detergents and grout-safe agitation lift oils, soil and old residues. Rotary and planetary machines scrub the stone while we recover the slurry, then the floor is rinsed and neutralised so nothing is left behind to attract fresh dirt.
Seal, polish and finish
Once the floor has dried to spec we apply a sealer matched to the stone and the room, impregnating for a natural look or topical for a dressed sheen, then hone or polish to matt, satin or high gloss if you have chosen a finishing step.
Handover and aftercare
You get before and after photos, a walkthrough of the finished floor and a plain-English aftercare guide: which daily cleaner to use, what to keep off calcareous stone, and when the sealer will need topping up. We can set resealing reminders too.
Covering Leeds from our Knaresborough base
We work out of Monkswell House in Knaresborough, which puts north Leeds about half an hour away, straight down the A61 through Harewood. Wetherby and the villages off the A1(M) are closer still, and the ring road makes Horsforth, Pudsey and Garforth straightforward for early morning starts.
For city centre jobs, access is usually the first thing we sort. Our equipment runs from the van, so on our first visit we agree parking, loading and building access with you or your facilities team, and if daytime working is awkward we schedule evenings, overnight or weekends instead.
Commercial stone floor cleaning in Leeds
Leeds city centre floors work hard: marble receptions around Park Row, terrazzo in retail arcades, stone and tile in the bars off Call Lane and the hotels near the station. We schedule evenings, overnights and weekends so your floor is clean, dry and open before trading starts, and after repairs or re-grouting areas can often reopen the next trading day. Every job comes with RAMS and COSHH documentation, DBS-checked technicians where the site needs them, full public liability insurance and a photo report at sign-off, with optional slip and gloss readings for your compliance file. For lobbies and food service floors under constant traffic, our scheduled clean, burnish and reseal programmes keep the finish consistent and push back the day you have to think about replacement.
